HALF REMEMBERED DREAM 8.5% Double India Pale Ale collaboration with Off Script Brewing A mixed grist of pilsner, oats, and wheat upon which we layered from Egger's Riwaka, Freestyle Nectaron, Motueka CGX, and Riwaka Amplifire to emerge wonderful notes of ripened mango slices, gummy bear candies, and fresh lemon zest. We ask the questions for which we seek our own answers. The request, the response. What’s next?

The beer world can be overwhelming. Choices in abundance so great that it feels somehow limiting at times. Hops, hop farms, lots, harvests both early and late. Nuance upon nuance drilled down so infinitesimally small that it begs the question: will this prove meaningful?

The response, for us, yes. We sharpen our edge at the whetstone of specificity. Two of our favorite hops; blurred, melded, and honed.

Liminally awake, wandering the corners of our minds, we reflect on a time not so long ago where the trappings of this brewery life were nothing more than a distant dream. In those days, nothing held us to the ground. Wherever our thoughts pointed us, we drifted. We talked at the time of evolving that mentality as wandering brewers, but fate had a different road for us. Did you feel the cooler air this morning?

We sure did. Around here we look forward to the fall. Something nostalgic about the air as the weather cools down. Watching the leaves quickly change from lifelike greens to deep yellows and rich reds before shedding back to the earth to feed the next cycle. It reminds us that nothing is static, but also gives a chance to find warmth in our surroundings. Like sharing a beer with close friends…

That’s why we brewed this one. Meant to be an elevation of the simplest ingredients. A beer for the beer drinker. No fuss. No frills. An exercise is careful execution and attention to detail.

Vinyl night upgrade…

Introducing tokens! From here on out, when you grab a drink at the bar (NA Stuff included), you’ll receive a token good for one entry into the vinyl night queue.

Vinyl night has come a long way since the early days, and the management system for queueing records (there was none) needed an upgrade so we could ensure more people got a chance to hear their music. Thankfully our good friend Shane from @hiddentracksrecords is known for being an idea man, and he did not let us down. So cheers to Shane, cheers to vinyl night, and cheers to all of you keeping it alive week after week. ❤️

Where do our ideas come from? For the amount of time we spend in our heads, we rarely spend time exploring how any of it works. And when we do finally sit down, breathe, and attempt to focus inward, we see how truly chaotic a mind at rest can be. Ideas and thoughts bubble up seemingly from nowhere, only to drift away as quickly as they came.
At some point in the recent past, an idea emerged and got stuck in our minds; to brew with Einkorn wheat– an ancient grain with an agricultural origin that dates back more that 12,000 years. A grain with a complexity that requires more careful consideration; The type of consideration and attention to detail that we knew our friends at @thetestbrewery would appreciate, so we asked them to join us for the endeavor.

NEUROGENESIS
10.1% Triple India Pale Ale
collaboration with The Test Brewery
A massive bed of pilsner, oats, and einkorn wheat create a strikingly complex and exceptionally soft pillow on which we layered wave after wave of oily hop compounds from @eggershops Nelson, Citra, @crosbyhops Deep Cut Cascade, Egger’s Motueka, and @freestylehops Motueka Hop Kief. We are getting overwhelming notes of fresh cut mango, sugared pineapple, and juicy mandarin slices.

Quietly behind the scenes we’ve been tinkering with some of the core tenets of our hazy program to continue to evolve the aim and sharpen the blade. With a fresh crop of @eggershops at our disposal, we have the chance to dive in, get creative, and let the results wash over us.

BENEATH THE WAVES
8.5% Double India Pale Ale
A wonderfully soft bed of pilsner, oats, and wheat cushion a melange of Egger’s hops. Our hand selected lots of Pesharine, Motueka, and Riwaka hops play off one another manifesting waves of sweet peaches, soft ripened papaya, and key lime zest.

Let’s talk for a moment about Daylily. We make a lot of it, and for really good reason. This beer has been with us from the beginning, and continues to delight us with every sip. Super drinkable, yet packing the sensory power of a much bigger beer, we brew Daylily with the intent to bring you all the bold hoppy saturation of a Double IPA, without the heavy ABV. It seems every time we sip a new batch of Daylily, it’s only getting better. Do you agree?

DAYLILY
5.8% Hazy Pale Ale
Our hyper-specific blend of barley, oats, and wheat are what set the stage for Daylily to shine. Paired with our hand selected lots of Citra and Mosaic hops, the ingredients combine for a bold, bright, and yet deceptively easy drinking hoppy pale ale. Notes of sweet citrus, oily cannabis, and pungent pine needles dance across the senses and settle into a smooth and slightly dry finish bringing you right back in for another sip.
